What Is Casein Protein?

Similar to whey protein, casein protein is also derived from milk. In fact the composition of milk is 80% casein and 20% whey. Formulated in the lab by dehydrating parts of milk, casein has cemented its importance in the supplement industry for some very legitimate reasons.

Broadly there are 2 forms of casein proteins:

  • Micellar Casein: This is the most popular form and is digested at a slower pace.
  • Casein Hydrolysate: This form is predigested and has a comparatively faster absorption rate.
