Why Glucose Is Not The Whole Reality ??

I personally do not rely on fasting blood sugar to check metabolic health. The real balance of blood sugar spike is post meal. There are cases of elevation of blood sugar, as well as insulin rise, in the insulin resistant and prediabetic state. When we eat something the pancreas releases insulin and at the same time the sugar in the blood rises. If there is a problem with pancreas and insulin is not being released then we have to address that case as a Diabetic one.

There is another case of the pancreas releasing insulin but cells are not receptive and are not using that insulin. As a result there is too much insulin loose in the blood and such a case is called Insulin-resistant, or Diabetic Two.

ORAL GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST has been considered the best test for diabetes as a diagnostic tool. In this test they give you a sugar drink and after some time samples of your blood are taken to assess the blood sugar response. Same procedure has been used to check triglycerides and cholesterol handling. It's called the lipid load test.
