For the body to stay healthy and disease proof all the essential nutrients must be part of our intake. Good fats are required by the body to maintain good health; you also need essential fatty acids for a number of functions in the body.

Fatty acids which cannot be made by our body are called ‘ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS’. Actually there are two types of fats considered ‘Essential’ right now, and those are ‘Omega 3’ and ‘Omega 6’. Saturated fats like coconut oil are considered as ‘Conditional Essential Fats’.

Hydrogenated oils are dangerous as they interfere with the way the body utilizes essential fats. But we can get all essential fats from our food, supplements and cold pressed oils. Coconut oil plays a small role with these essential fatty acids, enhancing the utilization of these fats. Coconut oil has antioxidant properties too which protects the body from destructive oxidation inside the body. Always remember: for great health we should consume small amounts of Essential fatty acids with significantly larger amounts of Medium chain fats. (Coconut oil, palm oil, etc.)
