In our body, there are billions of cells and these cells create a tremendous amount of energy. But to create energy they depend upon some special cellular signaling molecules such as AMPK.

Now the question arises, how do we increase AMPK?
It depends on how you use your energy. If you restrict your calories from one meal to another, AMPK will increase.

- If you exercise on a regular basis, your AMPK will rise.
- AMPK increases the mitochondria which are powerhouses in each cell, and simultaneously these cells also increase.
- AMPK also improves the sensitivity of insulin. It also regulates the appetite centre of your brain.
- AMPK inhibits lipid signaling pathways involved in making cholesterol and triglycerides, offering protection against heart problems. But, consumption of processed carbs and high fat meals decrease AMPK. Also, AMPK increases glucose uptake and fat oxidation.
