Humidity and temperature have been on the rise in Mumbai but so are my spirits! Because there could not have been a better way to end the month of March than to shoot with actress and model, Lopamudra Raut, who has been in the news lately for all the right reasonsâ€”be it her level of fitness in popular TV show, Khatron Ke Khiladi or being super glamorous and slaying it on the fashion ramp. We had a good day shooting for the cover of Krunch Today at Rhino's Gym, Mumbai, a brand new offering in the city of Mumbai.
Looking forward, it is a foregone conclusion that the fitness industry is growing in all directions. Compared to 10 years ago, it is astonishing to see how the demand for sports nutrition and sports equipment has grown to phenomenal levels today. One major reason for this explosion in demand is the rising awareness in people who are constantly on the lookout for products and services to help them achieve their fitness goals.
However, the fitness industry, today, is in a highly unorganised state. Some years ago, there were only a handful of companies who ruled the industry but now, things have changed. Many small players have entered the market, making the game even bigger, but not very organised. Several start-ups are now targeting retail customers and not only the gym industry in urban markets, across age groups.
The new trend where corporates are encouraging their employees to stay fit is also helping the fitness industry grow. Large companies have started providing fully-equipped gyms to their employees. This has also pushed the employees to subscribe to online fitness programs, buying fitness wearables and apparels encouraging further sale of fitness commodities.
When we talk about the need for gyms and fitness products, the demand has been created by all of us collectively, including our lifestyle. Obesity and diabetes are on the verge of explosion, hence, people have started taking fitness seriously. There used to be a time when gym membership would be considered luxury. Now, it has become the need of the hour. Also, previously, one could find good gyms only in the metros, whereas tier 2 and 3 cities now have their own swanky gyms adding to the growth.
The awareness in todayâ€™s youth about the merits of working out every day to keep stress and disease at bay coupled with fitness companies offering new and innovative products to meet the demand is surely going to take us to the next level. So, letâ€™s hope for a brighter and fitter India while motivating everyone around us to lead a healthy and fit life.
